On the watch

Sébastien Larochelle

In September 2009, Magazinart praises Sébastien Larochelle’s Works as « sensational. » Since then, Larochelle has exhibited in galleries in Montreal and in Quebec city as well as in Whistler Village Gallery during the 2008 Olympics. The young artist was born in Hull but he decides to settle in Montreal, in order to pursue his studies in Fine Arts. Since a very young age, the artist is encouraged by his mother to pursue his passion and his paintings reflect his gratitude towards her. Larochelle, inspired by Betty Goodwin, sews his canvases from scratch, enabling him to give additional texture to his work. His technique also consists of dripping in order to manipulate depths and shapes of the muscles of the animals and characters to which he gives life.

The artist leaves no one indifferent with an agile and imaginative technique. Keep an eye out for this artist!
