To kick-off his photo exhibition, Andy Summers will welcome 400 VIPs during a special opening evening at the Galerie MX on November 13, 2007, from 5 PM to 9 PM. The event is opened to accredited medias.

Beginning in 1980, Summers documented The Police, behind the scenes in a series of candid and striking black and white photos.  Possessing a visual gift for composition and mood allowed him to capture the spirit of The Police more intimately than anyone else.

Summers, one of the most prolific guitarists of all time, is now in the midst of The Police sold-out tour  celebrating their 30th reunion.  Andy Summers heralds his return with a biathlon of photographic output: an exclusive photographic exhibition in five cities, which have been produced by HP on its new HP Designjet Z3100 Photo Printer series, and a book published by Taschen. The gallery shows, presented in conjunction with Rockarchive.com began in June at the Laurie Frank Gallery in the famed Los Angeles art complex Bergamot Station, and will be followed by similar exhibitions in July at Newbury Fine Art in Boston and Gjethuset in Denmark.

Another inventive event of Galerie MX
Founded only last year, Galerie MX is already among Montreal’s top contemporary art galleries. Located in the magnificent international quarter,  it has been looking for artists that have gone beyond the technique, gestual and composition of the norm. According to François Lauzon, Galerie MX Associate: “even though all of these elements are essential to the quality of the work, they remain secondary to the artist if they are without soul and a unique style”. Andy Summers and Galerie MX: two creative worlds to discover.
