PIERRE CHÉNIER

Chénier's works are marked by a return to ancient iconography. He reminds us that the marvelous has always reigned... that it has not changed over the past milleniums. As demonstrated by the artist this same imagination impregnates our present world. The surfaces seem at times burnished, smoked and yellowed by time. Forms and bodies emerge from the successions of layers. Blurred and hazy images reveal themselves through each successive coat. Before devoting himself full-time to his art, Pierre Chénier was trained as a historian and archeologist. He was employed by the Canadian government and worked for UNESCO in Carthage, Tunisia.

Pierre Chénier entered the world of art with the desire to lift the veils of appearances. Not surprisingly, his work burst's with life and uncontained passions. Works presented in Vienna by Ariadne Gallery and in Bruxelles by Christine Debras-Yves Bical Gallery, and in the United-States by Las Olas Fine Arts, Fort Lauderdale. Represented in many institutional and private collections in Québec, Ontario, New-York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Paris and Glascow.
