MONIQUE T. LAXER

A professional painter for only five years, Monique left a professional career in homeopathy and in energy psychology to dedicate herself completely to artistic creation. However we realize to contemplate in her works that this training remains, always latent through the representational portraits which she shows us. "I believe that art can serve as a cure for the wounded souls, starting with mine", she says, mentioning an episode of mourning in her life where she had dashed white in every composition of characters. Quite like, referring to happier moments, the art becoming a drive for these moments of happiness. "We can rather easily redraw my moods through my paintings, and when I feel happy, the color palette is much more elaborated and the characters lighter." 56-year-old, Monique T.Laxer studied drawing, painting, watercolor and photography in the Center Saïdye Bronfman from 1986 to 1989. From 1991 to 1997, she studied with Charlotte Rottenberg, who taught her the capacity to work on several mediums.

Since 2001, she has dedicated a lot of time to painting in her studio, which she shares with two other artists. Constantly in search of new techniques, she paints on diverse materials and uses oil, pastel, collage, gold leaf and Japanese paper. Monique facilitates the human expression which allows her contact to this creative vital force and to get the influence of this energy which drives her constantly. "My art evolves ceaselessly and, beyond the control of technique, it becomes confused with my personal evolution, according to my feelings and situations which give a sense to my life." Not amazing that she exploits universal subjects like love and friendship. Also in her works We find theatrical inspiration references in the commedia dell' arte. Represented for serveral years by Mensi and Rioux and galerie MX, Monique T. Laxer appreciates the respect and the clear-sightedness carried by these agencies. "They know that I shall never overturn into the commercial art and they allow me all the freedom to create with my rhythm and according to my convictions." Insisting that art can cure many heartaches.
