Marc Paquet

MARC PAQUET

Marc Paquet works with density, using acrylics and lead crayons, two very opposite medium.  He soaks paper, of all kinds of colors with acrylic, resin, gouache, ink, aluminum and ecoline, then waits for it to dry and scrapes or sands the surface to extract the light from it to reveal ghostly images.  The piece is accentuated with the assistance of a lead crayon, during which Paquet determines which details on which he pushes realism to the extreme.

Paquet works on religious characters that are subjacent in his drawings through the development of architectural patterns:  window, cross and church arches in roman style.  He is also inspired by icons, which he sees as the pieces where the central theme are the hands in association with ideas:  prayers, communion and daily gestures.
