Franck Benoualid

FRANCK BENOUALID

Franck Benoualid was born in Toulouse in France in 1959 and is a self-taught artist. Today, Franck Benoualid is one of France's young recognized artists. Inspired by the work of the classic masters, Benoualid developed his own voice, which combines elements and abstract methods as well as representational ones.

The works of the French artist indicate a desire to melt and to insert the individual into his environment, that it is real, timeless or imaginary. The luxurious nudes of Benoualid, painted through the years, are often anonymous: practically without a head sometimes, or with faces which are without any particular feature. His magnificent forms seem to extract from decrepit surfaces, as of old walls covered with damaged graffiti. He creates the twisted bodies which are juxtaposed with a palette of subtle and splendidly splashed colors. Some of his works are deepened by the feelings of the passion, the fault and the sexual treason. Benoualid captures our most introspective moments, these periods when we are most alone with ourselves, or even periods when we are more connected with the others. His figures pulse with their own lives, fired by a strange appeal.

The paintings of Benoualid are nothing less that intense. He mixes the color and the lines to create tension in every piece, whereas earthy, organic tones supply the perspicacity in its vision of reality. The artist represents his personal expression and his faith in the capacity of the painting to express the feelings. The representational deformations of Benoualid, coupled with its extraordinary colors and emotional personalities, reference to the tensions of comings and goings in life.

The work of Benoualid is part of collections such as: Salon De Paris International, San Paulo; art Japan, Tokyo "Club de Pays de Paris" and Nevill's collection, London.
